As soon as I saw her sitting out here, I knew what I was going to do. It was risky, especially because we’re eighty-odd stories up, and I was only assuming the railing was strong enough to handle both our weights, but I needed her to be scared.

I only wish I could have watched her face as she fell apart. I have no doubt that it would have quickly become my favorite sight on this earth.

But there’s time. We have the rest of our lives to work through this shit, and for me to make her come so hard and so many times that she can’t fucking breathe through all the pleasure I give her.

A shiver moves through her body, and this time I know it’s from my words, not the freezing cold wind whipping around us. She stopped feeling the cold a few minutes ago, just like I did.

Before I stepped foot on the balcony, I ran a bath for when we came back inside, knowing she would likely need it.

I carry her up the stairs, taking more care than I normally would to make sure I don’t trip with her in my arms, and straight into the room I’ve been staying in.

The bath salts I poured in the warm water waft through the room as I enter the bathroom and perch her on the basin, but her arms don’t release from around my neck when I try to step back, and I can’t help the smirk that tugs at the corners of my lips.

“Are you okay, sugar?” I rumble.

She nods against my neck.

“I need to take your nightgown off so I can get you warm. Can you let me do that?”

She turns her face and spots the bath, but that only seems to make her hold on to me tighter. A fucked-up part of me is glad she seeks me out when she needs comfort, because I fucking love being that person for her, but if I don’t warm her up, she could get sick, and that’s the last thing I want when she’s finally starting to look better.

“It’ll only be for a couple of seconds, sugar.”

“Will you come in with me?” she whispers.

“If you want me to.”

She nods and loosens her grip on my neck.

I make quick work of tugging the silk fabric from her skin, shoving her panties down her legs, and shucking my own sweatpants.
